This slim volume is the tale of Stanley Yelnats, a boy who picks up a pair of shoes that apparently were stolen from a major league baseball player. He is promptly arrested and even though he is innocent, sent to Camp Green Lake, a facility for juvenile delinquent boys. The kids there are forced to dig holes, one a day, but something else is happening beneath the surface of the malevolent prison.
My age rating for this book would be 9+. For the sensitive, this story might be a little disturbing, but the overall novel is not. Some violence; a camper slams a shovel into a supervisor's head.
Allons-y!
