Writer's Advice......Special Guest!!!! Sort Of.

I just finished the AMAZING BOOK Chasing Vermeer. At the back of my copy is a section entitled "After Words". It contains activities, book previews (which drive me bats!), and interviews with the author, and in this case, the illustrator. I wanted to post the advice that Blue Balliett gave to young writers in the back of Chasing Vermeer.

Q: What advice do you have for young writers?

A: To be patient, listen to your own ideas, and expect writing to be messy. Figuring out exactly what you want to say and how you want to say it is sometimes a slow process, with lots of rethinking and rewriting. But I also believe that being a writer is one of the most satisfying things a person can do. What a thrill when the words come out on the page and you know they're just right!

Need we say anything more?
